What is a Domain Name?

The term “name” (of a domain, site, web project, network resource) in web design technologies has paramount priority, since the organization of hypertext is possible only if there is an existing database of original (sometimes also called “unique”) intermediate / final network addresses . To explain this state of affairs, you need to confidently understand the essence of web architecture (a hint in this event can be the content of an article on the structure of the Internet).

The addressing system in the virtual space of the Internet is not fundamentally different from its counterpart that exists in the physical world. The name of any (and any) network resource must be such that when accessing it from an abstract point in cyberspace, the possibility of double interpretation is excluded; in fact, this is exactly what we can observe in reality. Suppose that in a certain state (on the Internet their role is played by zones, that is, first-level domains) there are de facto two cities with exactly the same names; the name of one of them is absolutely identical to the other... how can we identify the addressee?
The only correct thing (no need to distort, remembering different regions and other administrative entities): you should add a kind of “zest” to the spelling/pronunciation of the name. An example for the “big” world: Rostov in the Yaroslavl region and a city with the same name, located much further south, closer to Kuban; we distinguish them as Rostov the Great and Rostov-on-Don.

Thus, the name of a specific addressee must be completely unique, and such uniqueness in web design technologies can be ensured by the smallest, and in our opinion, completely insignificant detail (for example, you can use a single character that differs from the “original” , as well as the absence of any symbol, or an addition to the name in any form permitted by the writing conditions, and so on). If these requirements are met, each element of the web project (network resource) acquires its own unique name.
