▫ Khonsu (also spelled Khons or Khonsou), whose name means “the Traveller” or “He who crosses [the sky],” is one of the oldest known deities of the Ancient Egyptian pantheon, with roots traceable back to the Old Kingdom (c. 2686–2181 B.C.).

He rose to prominence particularly during the New Kingdom (c. 1550–1069 B.C.), especially at Thebes, where he became the lunar son of Amun and Mut in the Theban Triad. Today he is recognised as a Lunar deity or #Moon god.

Now housed in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC)
