Egypt is a country of pharaohs, sphinxes and, of course, pyramids. We all know about the three most famous pyramids at Giza, but few people know about more than a hundred other pyramids scattered throughout the country.

The three giant pyramids built by the pharaohs Keops, Khafre and Menkaure on the Giza plateau are truly marvels of engineering and architecture. But they are just the tip of this colossal iceberg. As many as 118 different types of pyramids have been discovered in Egypt, each with its own unique history and mysteries.

The Pyramid of Djoser is considered one of the ten best pyramids in Egypt. Its construction is amazing: six limestone terraces, one smaller than the other, and all of them built on top of each other. This pyramidal monument was the center of a large funerary complex, and the tomb of Pharaoh Djoser was located at a depth of 30 meters.

In the vicinity of Zawiyet el-Arian, most of the pyramids remained unfinished, but the Pyramid of Baqa is of particular interest. Since 1964, it has been in a restricted military zone and its excavation is prohibited. This place is invaluable for archaeologists seeking to unravel the secrets of the construction of these amazing structures.

The first ruler of the 4th dynasty, Pharaoh Snefru, created no less than three pyramids. His second experiment, a pyramid known as the Bent Pyramid, was built at an angle of 54 degrees, making it unique among other pyramids.

Other Egyptian Pyramids

Apart from those already mentioned, other interesting pyramids include the ruined Djedefre Pyramid, the abandoned pyramid in Ancient Egypt, the Lahun Pyramid, the Unas Pyramid, the Meidum Pyramid, the Red Pyramid and the Egyptian Nyuserre Pyramid.

The Pyramids of Giza, built 4,500 years ago, remain the most famous. They delight with their mass and perfection of construction. The interior of the pyramids is mostly empty, but small underground burial chambers are hidden in their depths. However, despite many speculations, no treasures, mummies or hieroglyphic inscriptions were found in them.

How were these amazing structures built? Given the lack of modern technology in ancient times, their creation remains a mystery. There are several theories, but the exact method remains unclear.
